The Making: Jasny Range
Exploring the craftsmanship behind the design.
When Berlin-based industrial designer Stephanie Jasny began developing a seating range for Nomi in 2019, her approach was clear: prioritise comfort, embrace agility, and elevate the everyday through refined design. The result is the Jasny Range, a collection that includes an armchair, side chair, barstool, and café stool, each shaped by Nomi’s core values of craftsmanship and customisation.
Material Selection
Every Nomi product begins with thoughtful material choices, and the Jasny Range is no exception. The collection is crafted from clean, straight-grain oak — chosen for its strength, stability, and timeless character.
Each element is carefully machined and finished to balance functionality with warmth, showcasing the natural beauty of the timber.
Upholstery
While the timber frame provides a defined structure, comfort is delivered through a considered upholstery process. Upholstered chairs are finished in premium Italian leather or refined upholstery fabrics. Cushions are layered with high-density foam to provide long-term support and maintain their shape over time.
Stephanie Jasny injected a minimalist yet detail-oriented design language. “I wanted the design to feel unpretentious but with emphasis on the details and manufacturing,” she says. Timber Machining & Joinery
Precision is key to the Jasny Range’s signature look. Each chair is constructed using machined timber components, allowing for accuracy and consistency. In the armchair, timber dowels create subtle junctions that are both strong and elegant. Visible leg tenons are intentionally exposed, not only to enhance structural performance, but to highlight the traditional joinery techniques that underpin the design.
